Certificate of Experience (COE)
Pay close attention as this is the commonest part where the application can get delayed :
There are 2 ways for this to be done :
MMC
Certificate of Experience is called Internship Completion Certificate ( Borang 6 ) by MMC .
- Complete the MALAYSIAN MEDICAL COUNCIL APPLICATION FOR COPY OF CERTIFICATES AND OTHER SERVICES document that is on MMC website here

- In the above form specify that you are applying for borang 6 (internship completion certificate )
- You will need to make a payment of RM 200
- Send evidence of payment and the completed form above to fullmalaysian.mmc@gmail.com
- Once you receive your internship completion certificate get it translated via Straker translations https://www.strakertranslations.com/service/personal/ecfmg/ .
- You can also opt for translation service option offered by MMC however EPIC strongly endorses Straker Translations. Best to use Straker to avoid any delays. Cost for Straker translation is 100usd per document . Cost for MMC translation is RM 200.
Hospital Route
- Your Internship completion certificate can also be done via your hospital where you completed your housemanship . Speak to your hospital admin if they have done this before , it will save you the cost for paying for the application to be done via MMC of RM 200 . However this process can be a bit more slow than the MMC route .
- EPIC will need the original copy and translated copy uploaded. You will need to use an EPIC authorised translation service.eg. (straker online) .
- To save on translation cost you can simply request your hospital admin to give you a certificate in English rather than Malay .
Pro’s and Cons of the above 2 route
- MMC verification is quick however it cost more because you will have to pay for the original and also pay for it to be translated.
- MMC does the verification process on a daily basis and they are used to the process hence they are quick to work with EPIC to get your certificate verified
- Hospital produced certificate is a cheaper option as there will be no payment involved and you can request for the certificate to be produced in English so you do not need to pay for it to be translated .
- The hospital route can be slow but this is really dependent on the hospital administration . Certain hospitals are quick to respond to EPIC and certain hospitals are not. We have heard of significant delay because emails sent from EPIC were missed and the candidate had to call EPIC and the hospital admin back and forth to have the issue rectified. So the possibility of delay in timing can happen with the hospital route more than with the MMC route . We have also heard of delays from MMC but they are less common than the hospital route .
- Note that MMC certificates only show 5 postings as the hospital submits the application for general registration during the houseman’s 5th posting . We have not heard of EPIC rejecting the certificate because of this till date .
- Hospital certificates have all the 6 postings included in it and is therefore more complete and a more accurate picture of your housemanship rotations.
